Position Summary:
This position performs a variety of accounting tasks and reporting activities primarily related payables, fund accounting, general ledger and tax compliance.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
• Oversee the accounts payable function including the processing of invoices and reimbursables within Accufund, bill.com and Abacus, and verify coding.
• Prepare account analysis/accounting work papers for annual audit of ACWIS financial statements.
• Maintain and review permanently restricted project balances to ensure proper fund accounting.
• Analyze and research temporarily restricted project balances, which includes follow-up on funds that have not yet been designated by donors.
• Allocating investment earnings to project balances.
• Prepare financial reports in compliance with donor gift agreements.
• Assist in the budget process through preparation of supporting schedules.
• Review state registration/filings forms
• Review Form 1099 distribution and filing.
• Review assigned general ledger accounts monthly (other assets and liability accounts) to ensure that transactions have been recorded properly. Analyze account balances to follow up and clear non-current items.
• Reconcile transfers among ACWIS bank and investment accounts on a monthly basis.
• Respond to special requests for information and reports.
Skills and Abilities Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3-5 yrs work experience.
• Analytical ability and research skills.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
• Previous experience with annual audits a plus.
• Flexibility to meet changing work needs and demands.
• Ability to communicate effectively and share information and resources appropriately.
• Must be articulate and possess exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and follow-up.
• Demonstrated time management skills; ability to prioritize workload.
Computer Skills Required:
• Proficiency in accounting software
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive
• Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM is useful
